A true creative divvy.
What does 'Divvy' mean?
A north-eastern English word originating from the mining community's use of different types of lamp whilst working 'doon the pit'. An early, dangerous lamp nicknamed the Scotch Davy ('Divvie') had a high propensity to explode, and was superseded by safer lamps such as the George Stephenson ('Geordie') lamp. So someone would be unwise to go down a mine with a Davy/Divvie lamp, hence the word coming to mean a daft or silly person. Non-offensive and can be affectionate.
'Ha, you're such a divvy' or 'He's a right div.' (Modern usage)

Honestly, I think a small amount of banding is perfectly fine, as long as you're careful with it. For example, making sure that you _don't_ have heavy banding on the light source facing side to prevent it from just being pillow shading. It also seems like banding is more noticeable on straight lines and with multiple thick strips of colors, and a bit less of an issue when it's along a curve with just a handful of thin, wispy lines TLDR: everything in moderation, i guess
Would love to see a run cycle tutorial + a side by side comparison between walk and run. Really nice video 😀
"You are a disgrace for your family", that, I felt that 😂
After 2 minutes of the video I literally thought like it was at least an hour of knowledge. I learned so much thanks to you. God bless you.
Why you mock Jesus
This piece has so much character and atmosphere. Great work!
I got experience with digital art upon trying out aesprite i was surprised by how comfortable it all felt (expect some hotkeys I'm used to hitting P for my pencil not B) didn't realize how transferable it was might also be i have a lot of experience of building in Minecraft as well which i assume helps
This is a fantastic video! You call out a number of really important factors when thinking about almost any art style. The part that really impressed me was your wonderful analysis of popular game art styles. Well done!
Is this Brackeys of pixel art???
Best tutorial in UA-cam!
Definitely best asperite tutorials in UA-cam!
Best Aseprite Tutorial In UA-cam!!!!!!!!
istruzioni sbagliate mi è venuto sbirulino col cazzo dritto
The only reason I'm watching this video is because my brother asked me to draw him a character in pixel art, and I have no idea how but I do draw. So, I couldn't say no, cus he helps me with math all the time
insta saved! such a great vid!!
Amazing!! thank you for the start up!! I'll hope to become a great artist one day.
Well, That sucks...
This was very cute. I enjoyed the little goblin and his friend.
Glad you enjoyed <3
Best asperite tutorials are yours 😅
Verbose Stdout explanation: Enabling verbose stdout also enables a debug mode for OpenGL, the underlying rendering API. This debug mode forces certain OpenGL API calls to be single-threaded. Nvidia once released a driver setting called "Threading optimization" which runs some code internally on the driver in a different thread(s). Turning the debug mode in OpenGL forces this "Threading optimization" off, which was causing lag spikes. I don't want to try to look in open-source nvidia drivers to find out exactly why this causes lag spikes, but if I had to guess it would probably be some contention on some global lock protecting the global state that OpenGL has internally. If it's loading stuff to a different thread, but then there are a bunch of synchronous calls to OpenGL which need access to that state, contention on the lock can slow things down dramatically. It's common in AAA games to have some rendering engine make multithreaded calls to the rendering API instead of synchronous ones (or to just use DirectX12/Vulkan instead), and I bet it's a performance win for those applications because they are never waiting on that synchronous OpenGL state and it removes the lock contention.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing this insight
Dasi, or Pettle
Is there any duration constraint with using asprite? I was wanting to work on a music video for a song I made, and was looking to animate like, 3-4min worth. Would the method be the same, just on a much larger scale? thanks!
I mean i smile whole vid i think i just found my solutions.
🤰
Thank you! Your input is well appreciated 🤝🏻
I Like the tutorials... Like I can understand em... But I feel it goes by waaaayyy too fast for me. Either that, or I just cant grasp anything at all... But I have the just of how this is done... Thank you! ^-^
this is very niceeeeeeee
amazing work
I started watching gameplay videos because I didn’t have a computer (or money) to play most of the games. I was more interested in the story elements and art direction of the games than the gameplay mechanics. But now that I’ve been watching a lot of Godot tutorials I’m starting to see how gameplay mechanics affect the storytelling and even art direction in these games. I’ve got my work cutout alright 🥲
Why not go into animation or comics if you’re not as interested in game mechanics? You could always just create visual novel type games that don’t have a strong emphasis on mechanics either?

Is that the trash taste theme I can hear in the background lol
I love your art!
Thanks so much!
how about the name "Dizzy"? sounds like daisy, but... you get dizzy watching her run around. I uhhdunno Beautiful look so far, looks great!
why won't add lumbeh as a skin or maybe as an Easter egg? since the animation and art is already done
1:15 👀👀👀
literal boner
Thank you!! This is one of the best 'art' tutorials I've ever watched. Clear, concise and with excellent info'. :)
I think its awesome that many of these shortcuts are the same across other software that's not for pixel art. Like Blender, UE5, Godot, Unity, etc
Haha, when you puked up those things 0:40 i didnt expect that
I would be happy if you answer this question , thank you Walking in Aseprite etc. I don't understand how they do the attack effects. Can you express this with characters consisting of zeros? (pixel art)
Not sure what you mean, perhaps join the community discord to share more and we can help you
I like your hair style, shows confidence and strength
Thanks 😊

Perfect simple tutorial for a beginner gamedev whos not so good at art. THANK YOU!!!
Sorry to hear about your parent, don’t left marketing at the end , it may take more time than you think
Just finding your videos, they're exactly what I need! Working on my own game in Godot and I've never done art before, so I'll be using this video and your animation tutorial to help get me there. Thanks!
4:00 LMAO, relatable. XD
this really helped but its kind of confusing seeing everything in different places
This is much better than the modern art that many social media displays
:(
